New ResilienSEA Garden Project Boosts Food Security and Ecology

A new community garden initiative links climate resilience, education, and food sovereignty in coastal areas.

In an effort to modernize Cabo Verde’s artisanal fisheries, ADAD launched a new mobile app under the Small Pelagics Project, giving fishers access to real-time data about safe fishing zones, expected weather conditions, and local market trends.

Developed with input from coastal fishing cooperatives, the app includes a reporting feature that enables fishers to track their catch and report illegal fishing activities anonymously. This digital tool is expected to boost productivity, promote sustainable practices, and increase safety at sea. Early pilot programs have already shown enthusiastic adoption across São Vicente and Santiago.
